As part of the MyGov initiative the Australian Taxation Office is making more services available online.
This means that important tax information will be sent to you electronically via MyGov instead of by mail to our office.
If you have a MyGov account linked to the Tax Office, you will no longer receive paper copies of:
- Notice of assessments
- Activity statements (BAS returns)
- PAYG Notices
Instead, you will receive an email or SMS alert when new correspondence is available. You will then need to log-on to your MyGov account to view the information.
As OBT will no longer receive this information, we will not be able to alert you when documents are sent. Therefore, it’s important that you review any correspondence received promptly to ensure tax payments or lodgements are not missed.
As notices of assessment, PAYG notices and BAS returns will now automatically go electronically to you, we will also not be able to review the information before you receive it. This is something we previously were able to do as part of the service we offered our clients.
If you are unsure if your MyGov account is linked to the Tax Office, you can see all your links under the ‘profile’ section on your MyGov account.
