Lockyer Valley retirees Glen and Marlene Reinke have been clients of Rodney Turner’s for some 30 years and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
After doing his butcher’s apprenticeship at Schulte’s as a kid, and then working in some of the district’s hospitality businesses, Glen and Marlene are now enjoying semi-retirement as they tend their farms and run cattle.
“Rodney is our financial adviser and Brett Garmeister is our accountant,” says Glen. “We knew Rodney growing up and have worked with him the whole time, back when he started doing our tax as one half of O’Brien Turner & Associates.”
When Rodney moved into Financial Planning, Glen and Marlene followed and they are now living as self-funded retirees.
“We usually have a yearly meeting to review our finances, although we’ll also get together if we want to buy something within our super fund or if anything new happens.”
“Our retirement plan is working for us,” says Glen. “Our transition into retirement was good, helped by the advice we received about investing and taking into account our attitude to risk.”
“We’ve worked all our lives and I potter on the farms to keep me out of mischief, but the bottom line is we’re getting to do the things we want in retirement.”
