It’s easy to get excited about Renee Ventaloro’s infectious passion about her business!
The busy mum of three boys is spearheading a venture that revolutionises how both employers and employees manage workplace absenteeism, and it turns what we do on its head.
Currently in Australia, with $5.18 billion paid annually in leave entitlements to employees who need to take time out to attend to family illness, aged care, disability support and childcare it’s a revolution that will happen thanks to her new business based in Toowoomba, now rolling out across the country – Pro Help Australia.
“In the first of its kind in Australia where we support businesses who lose staff via absenteeism by creating a system where, if someone is away from work caring for a relative, Pro Help sends essentially a qualified proxy to cover for them and therefore keep that employee in the workplace during work hours,” says Renee. “As a community held and operated insurance of sorts, it is also tax deductible. We take a current national loss of upwards of $30 billion a year and turn it into a job creation effort and cash back in the business where it would have otherwise been an irredeemable loss.”
“Apart from eradicating the sickie, we also help employees stay healthier by not becoming run down when looking after sick kids and dependent family members,” says Renee. “The business’ productivity remains intact, as well as the employee’s leave entitlements such as stress, sick and carer’s leave – to use for absolute emergencies. Supported employees generally perform better and make less stress induced errors – their brains are able to mentally commit to the job, knowing they have support in the outside world. Productivity increases and thus the sickies become culturally unnecessary in the workplaces who have Pro Help’s support.”
Empowering employees – less stress, less sick leave
Renee has designed the business as Australia’s first ever 24-hour direct call out service. Pro Help’s specialised, qualified staff are mobilised within 1½ hours to assist either a business or an employee with any child or family care issues.
From sick children to sick adults, in home childcare, au pairs, low care disability support through the NDIS, housekeeping, cleaning, holiday care, before and after school hours care, Renee has designed two services in the form of insurance packages, both available to businesses and employees, called Workforce Productivity Protection™ and Family Support Assurance™.
Initial results are promising; one healthcare business has experienced a 75 per cent cost reduction by being able to send Pro Help carers into their employees’ homes when extra support has been required.
And, in conjunction with RSL Qld, Pro Help carers are assisting defence families re-adjust to civilian life by minding the kids whilst the parents rebuild their community ties after years of relocation.
Renee believes her new service puts the power in the hands of the consumer, instead of at the mercy of a guilty conscious.
It’s an idea that has been evolving for two years, not without the help and insight from Brett Garmeister at OBT Financial Group.
“Brett is amazing,” says Renee. “He helps me address the issues and has allowed me to think globally about my business.”
“I originally created an onsite healthcare service but changed the way it worked six months ago with a view this could be publically listed, thanks to OBT’s support and advice.”
“What we came up with was not only the most flexible human services business available, but also opportunities for people who are considering a career in caring to have a place in the workforce. We are the first of our kind with our coverage to be listed as a Salary Sacrifice option for employees.”
“We’re going to kill the sickie and the stress of juggling family and work commitments – either an individual can book or an employer can be the contact with a health insurance model of payment for either the business or the individual.”
Next year Renee plans to launch an App, which will allow users to pick and choose carers for their particular needs. For now, she is looking for franchisees and has just secured a national employment operations business to handle the staffing of qualified carers for Pro Help Australia.
“Another aspect of why Pro Help is different to temping is because our carers are qualified,” says Renee. “They are fully insured, blue card registered, police checked and first aid certified family support workers.”
“If you’re a small business owner, then the buck stops with you and there’s the added pressure of how best to deal with staff absences and getting more from your employees. We are creating value with a service that supports the anomalies of being an employee and employers when life’s hiccups get in the way.”
“We’re doing a complete 360 and turning what had been big losses into a business tax deduction that also stimulates jobs, business growth and bottom line profit increases.”
Pro Help insurance packages are available now. Call Renee for a free consultation and quote on 1800 PRO HELP or visit the Pro Help Facebook Page. Any business that depends on having its people onsite can apply.
