It’s easy for Accountant Roslyn Williams to remember when she first started working with OBT – it was 2000 and the same year GST was introduced in Australia.
After completing her Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and a brief stint with a Toowoomba firm, Laidley local Roslyn says she was ‘very young’ when she came back down the range to start her role at OBT.
14 years on, Roslyn is CPA qualified and a business and superannuation tax specialist either working with OBT clients firsthand, or supporting Brett Garmeister. She is also a dab hand when it comes to using MYOB, Cashflow Manager and BGL’s Simple Fund for managing self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs).
Roslyn always looks forward to superannuation training to learn the latest developments. As a result, she has become OBT’s go to person for high-level superannuation queries.
“SuperStream is all really new,” says Roslyn. “The ATO have deferred it until 1 July 2015, but everything has to be in place well before then, so we anticipate learning more about the specific requirements for employers and SMSF trustees next year.”
“With our help, employers with over 20 employees will need to relook at being SuperStream ready, probably in January 2015.”
Outside the office, Roslyn keeps busy with a young family. She delves into baking and going to the gym when she needs to switch off. And Roslyn is delighted to have worked at OBT for so long.
“Rodney and Brett are flexible and great to work for,” she says. “We’ve got a really good team and I love that everyone works so well together.”
