The retirement of Director Rodney Turner, the cherished cofounder of OBT marked the evening.
Rodney founded the business in 1984 with Peter O’Brien as a small accountancy firm advising local businesses and farming families.
The firm has since grown into one of the predominant accountancy businesses in the Lockyer Valley with over 20 staff.
OBT Financial Group Managing Director Brett Garmeister said Rodney’s care and concern for his clients, his employees and his family would leave an everlasting impact on the Lockyer Valley community.
“It’s not often that you get to honour someone who’s dedicated four decades to building a legacy of excellence and integrity and service, but Rodney Turner is one such individual,” Brett said.
Rodney retired on 26 June after 40 years of unwavering dedication to OBT.
“As we reflect on his incredible journey, several qualities stand out. His care and concern for his clients, his employees and his family.”
“His commitment to honesty and integrity has set a high standard in our industry, earning him the respect and trust of those he served.”
“As Rodney often reminds us, in order to be respected, you need to be respectable.”
OBT Financial Group cofounder Peter O’Brien said OBT had played an integral role in advising small businesses in the Lockey Valley for four decades now.
“Not many businesses can survive 40 years in the current state of play,” Peter said.
“I think it’s an accounting firm doing the right thing, especially in this day and age, with all the changes in legislation, especially tax.”
