According to a 2019 CHOICE survey, Betta has the best bricks and mortar shop experience.1
Not only is Gatton lucky enough to have its own Betta franchise operating in Railway Street but, did you know, it’s also home to the town’s only sports store?
Gatton Betta Home Living offers exceptional local advice and can assist with all your fridge, freezer, kitchen and cooking appliances, whitegoods, TV and audio requirements.
It’s the local expertise of new owners, Jodie and Aaron Werth, that gives that little extra piece of mind for Gatton’s electrical and home appliance purchases.
Jodie and Aaron have been locals their whole lives and took over Gatton Betta Home Living in December 2018.
Their favourite part of the local community is the people!
Aaron had managed the store for five years so it was a natural progression when the O’Briens were ready to sell. Jodie’s background had been as a beauty therapist so she lavishes the same level of customer service and attention to detail into everything they do.
“We are a Lockyer Valley family business and love helping people so I still get to do that as a new business owner which gives me that kick.”
“Customer service, prompt deliveries and being local are the key foundations of what we do,” she says. “We want people to stay and shop locally. In that regard, we are competitive compared with the online stores and try to keep the shopping in Gatton.”
“From offering reliable products and popular brands, served with a great customer service experience to aftersales care and warranties, we want to build long term relationships well into the future.”
Gatton Betta store offers support to numerous local groups and organisations such as Gatton Hawks Rugby League Club, local cricket clubs, Gatton Golf Club and the Gatton Redbacks Soccer club.
“We supply sports clothing and equipment from within the designated sporting section of our store which has been a longstanding legacy from back in the Kleidon Electrical and Sports days,” Jodie added.
Way before they made the decision to become business owners, OBT’s Rodney Logan was their personal accountant who subsequently guided them through their due diligence and becoming franchisees.
“Rodney was there holding our hands and guiding us on how to go about it,” says Jodie. “He has been great with his background knowledge and getting us over the line.”
“Now nearly one year in, not a lot has changed so we can be consistent, but I am learning more about the workings of the back office and the accounting side of the business, and Rodney makes sure we are getting things right.”
“We currently outsource most of our monthly accounting and BAS to Rodney so he can oversee our progress,” says Jodie. “We’re happy to do that so we can gradually find ways to streamline and automate the accounting which will ultimately save us a lot of time.”
“We’re already learning about setting reach targets, bankfeeds and cash flow forecasting and using those to speed up the running of our back office.”
“Rodney is a perfectionist who wants us to do things correctly – meticulously – but he’s also a family man so that connection is there.”
Jodie and Aaron also enjoy having Betta’s support not only as their franchisor but as supporters of Brisbane Heat, the Australian men’s professional twenty20 cricket team that competes in the Big Bash League.
For now, there’s a load of end-of-year promotions to gear up for, starting with Black Friday – the biggest day for retail kicking off crazy sales in the lead up to Christmas. Gatton’s #TownProud will be another promotion to look out for.
“We anticipate air conditioners being popular during summer,” says Jodie. “We work with several local installers which we can organise, as well as for antennas, parts, connectors and power packs, to get those up and running in Lockyer Valley homes.”
“And, in our sporting section, we just brought in bike helmets and are starting to stock bike accessories.”
“We’re very happy that we took the plunge and are breathing life into a well-loved local business,” Jodie added.
